The epic scene of the struggle in the Gulf Stream between an old Cuban fisherman and the giant Marlin he was trying to catch was narrated by Hemingway with virtuosity in his short novel The Old Man and the Sea. In this painting, I tried to translate Hemingway’s masterly depiction, which is among the most memorable scenes in the world of literature and a part of modern classics, into the language of oil painting.
